Friday, June 15, 2001 :: 01:13 p.m. That thong-tha-thong-thong-thong? There's a reason for the title of this blog. o.o; I'll hafta blog it later, because it's logged at home. Needless to say, May, you are Wrong. I'm so proud of you. XD My parents have been driving me absolutely fucking bonkers the past week, and I've been grimly holding onto sanity by the skin of my teeth, if I may mix my metaphors. Just don't ask. >_< Otherwise, I've applied for a bunch of jobs, and am pondering a new blog layout. I drew a rough sketch last night, and if I clean it up a bit, I might as well use it as a blog layout. I don't know what exactly it is, but it's cute! :D On the Vagrant Story front (non-gamers may avert their eyes now) - I made a good sword vs. Evil and Phantoms, got the Mandrake Sigil, and was busily fighting my way through the East Walls, I think, when I met a Phantom that killed me. And I realized that I hadn't saved recently. Well, fuck. ;;^^ Want good engrish? Go here. I like how it's bilingual, though, it's neat to compare them side-by-side. Did you know ultra-fem-boy Sydney uses 'ore'? Yep, he does! Of course, Ka says that he's not really effeminate, he's just evil, and I beg to differ on that point. XD The effeminate point, not the evil one. Sydney-chan! KAKKOII!! *fangirl squeal* @_@ OK. Time to enjoy my shizake and work on the crossword puzzle. :D Now Playing: Dave Navarro - Rexall Thursday, June 14, 2001 :: 01:01 p.m. Poor sad extremely villainous rabbit! ;_; OK, ka , this blog is just for you. It's a game blog!!! *cymbal crash* All general tips/comments will be in black, and any spoilers will need to be highlighted. So feel fre to read, Ka, or whoever is playing Vagrant Story and won't be bored by a game blog. XD The rest of you...um...gomen! :D The first thing you do is meet up with Rosencrantz. I'm chasing after Sydney, and Rosencrantz pops in to tell me to follow the snowflies. Thanks for nothing, bub. Nice costume, BTW. XD Then Grissom-tachi follow me into the forest, and I'm running around killing Basilisks. Thank god for high dragon affinity weapons. ._. Then I found the Earth dragon, the first boss of the forest. When fighting dragon bosses, get right in their face. Get as close as possible, in other words. Most bosses have a long-range fire/lightning/poison attack that is hard to block and kills you quite efficiently. If you're under their head. All they can do is bite you/thwap you with their tail, which is easier to rebound on them. This earth dragon has a biznatch of a poison attack, so I ran up, got underneath him, upped my armor's earth-blocking ability, and rebounded every bite/tail-smack on him until he died. Rebounding attacks is the best way to kill bosses; just put your damn sword away. ^.- Risk stays low, the boss dies - what more could you want? :D After killing the earth dragon, the wind changed, and I found my way to... Sydney, who was busy trying to convince Grissom not to kill himself by summoning something too powerful for him. It's odd; Sydney actually was trying to keep an enemy from over-exerting himself and dying. Of course. Grissom didn't listen, and Ashley just kind of...watched. o.o; Oi, Ashley, aren't you supposed to kill Sydney? As soon as Grissom summons the Dark Crusader ( which was really cool ) - Ashley jumps into battle. What's really cool about this battle is that Sydney is your ally. Don't attack him, even though you can! He stands around in the background, and when it's his turn to attack, he'll cast 'Prostasia' and 'Heal' on you. Good boy, Sydney! *_* The DC seems to just have two attacks - 'Drain Heart' and a sword attack which does 100+ damage. Ignore him for now, go after Grissom. Grissom is a bastich; he has a level 2 or 3 Thunder spell which SUCKS. Try to block/rebound it if you can, and heal like a bitch, because it'll suck 200+ points out of you, and if the DC drains more life, you're dead in the first hit. ;;^^ The chain combos I used were 'heavy shot', 'mind drain' ( or whatever drains mana out of your opponent) and the one, 'raging ache.' Bam, bam, bam with the Fandango. The more mana you drain out of him, the less time he has to give you that thunder attack, and the more time he wastes regen'ing his mana. He doesn't have that great a physical attack, so incapacitate his magical ones! :D Once he dies, the Dark Crusader is left. I switched to the Magnolia Frau ( since the DC is 'evil', IIRC ) and smashed away at him. I did a physical damage rebound, which worked really well. Draining his mana kept him from using 'drain heart' on me, so then I just had to keep healing myself and rebounding his physical attacks. When he dies, Ashley and Sydney have a charming little tete-a-tete, in which Sydney shows Ashley a different version of his past - namely that Ashley was a hired killer, who killed an innocent family having a picnic under an oak tree, and suffered a crisis of faith. Ashley, of course, doesn't want to believe that HE killed Tia and Marco, and Sydney says it's the truth, and the VKP erased his memories of it because they didn't want to lose Ashley as a fighter. He's too nice to be a fighter, but too good for them to afford to lose. ;;^^ ( So Sydney's trying to get him to question his loyalties to the VKP or something. Hm. ) Then Sydney tells Ashley that if he wants the truth, he'll hafta follow him, and walks off into the snowflies. And Ashley, of course, will follow :D I made it to the East City Walls again ( I think ) where I encountered, eventually, Guildenstern, Samantha, and Rosencrantz again. Turns out that Lea Monde itself is the 'Gran Grimoire', with all the spells in it, and in the center is the Cathedral, the center of the magical nexus. I wonder where the final battle will be. :P Ashley overhears this ( his 'rhythm' is in tune with Samantha's, so she sees what he sees, and vice versa. ) When he follows, he has to fight Rosencrantz. Rosencrantz confirms Sydney's story about Ashley's past as an assassin - he was *there* on the day Ashley killed the innocent family and had his breakdown. He's all, ' well, they used us, so let's get back at them' and then the two fight. R. uses his Break Arts a lot, so watch for them. Otherwise I drained mana, rebounded his attacks, etc etc, until I beat him. That's about where I stopped; I'm at about 33% of the map. ;;^^ OK, game blog over! :D ASHLEY~~ SYDNEY!! I want yaoitic DJ too. ;_; Now Playing: Nothing. ;_; Sunday, June 10, 2001 :: 01:57 p.m. My sleep schedule is still seriously fucked up. o.o; Thanks, Juri, Gregly, Krisit, and Kya-chan, for visiting yesterday! I had fun :D We should do that again sometime soon, when y'all are free! *_* The reason I couldn't hang out longer is that this morning I had a Indian baby shower to go to for my cousin's wife. My aunt, my cousin's sister, and my cousin's father-in-law had all flown in for the event. The thing was, it was at 7 am, so I had to get up early and get dressed and go over. ( That's why I kicked j00 all out after Moulin Rouge. " I gotta go!! Wah~~!" ) Indian baby showers are quite different than western ones. The mother-to-be is dressed up beautifully, with a new sari and flowers braided into her hair and lots and lots of jewelry. Coconuts, oranges, apples, candied sugar, sweets, and new clothes are placed before her on platters, and then we light lamps and incense and the oldest women in the house ( my mother and my aunt, in this case ) pray for the mother-to-be and the child and I suppose to avert evil eyes. Then each woman has to come up and give her blessings to the mother-to-be. First you smear sandalwood paste on each arm and under her chin, then put a red tilakam mark on her forehead. Married women sprinkle a special kind of rice on her head ( I didn't ) and put a flower in her hair. I, being unmarried, skipped the rice bit and put a flower in her hand. Then you sprinkle scented rose-water over her head, and take four glass bangles from a tray of glass bangles and try to put them on her, two to each wrist, without breaking them. This is harder to do than it seems; glass bangles from India are pretty small because everyone there is *tiny*. Western-born Indians, like me, and this generation of kids, have HUGE hands and it makes getting glass bangles ( or any bangles, for that matter; I routinely bend my mother's gold bangles out of shape to get them past my knuckles. Luckily, 24 karat gold easily reshapes back into a circle. ;;^^ ) onto our hands a delicate operation. The reason for the glass bangles is supposedly that the tinkling noise is soothing to the unborn child. They break really easily, of course, and so they're cheap and easily replaced. Afterwards, the mother-to-be and her husband fall at the feet of their elders ( my parents, his parents, her dad ) and they all shower rose petals and give their blessings and give them new clothes. Then we all eat. Afterwards, I raced home, changed out of my clothes ( it was 10 am by then ) and crashed for a much-longed-for 4-hour nap. XD Now I feel much better, but it's time for lawnmowing. ;;^^ Juri! Damn you! These books are BAD! But I can't stop reading them!! Now playing: Boom Boom Fire ( remixed ) Friday, June 8, 2001 :: 12:58 a.m. BATBOY HAS THE HOTS FOR JENNA BUSH! Sorry, I saw that headline in the Weekly World News today and couldn't resist. XD It's been almost a month since I've blogged, for, um.....reasons, yeah. I went to Hawaii for two weeks, and that was lovely. Snorkelled twice, hiked a lot, got a swimsuit tan, the works. I was feeling wretchedly guilty about going to HI before I went, feeling that I didn't deserve to go since I hadn't gotten into med school, and because my grades had been so lousy this year, but you know what? Now I don't give a shit. I went, I had fun, and that's that. My grades this year, unfortunately, WERE shitty. Well, for me. I ended up with a 3.6 GPA overall for my college career, which isn't bad, but it was 3.8 before this year. I was such an emotional mess this year. Bad timing for that; I needed to be together this year so I could get into med school and stuff. For the record: I'm probably not going to a med school next year. I'm on two waiting lists, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll reapply to other schools soon, but...well, that's that. Nothing that can be done about it. And my grades for this year are NOT going to help. Anyways, I'll be volunteering and working and trying to do more research, so hopefully SOMEONE will find my resume good enough. ;;^^ I switched to Prozac before I went to HI; I was falling asleep too much on Celexa. ( That's my mental health update for now. @_@ Don't worry, I'll stop talking about it! ) As for post-ACen hijinks at my house - thank you guys so much for coming! I'm sorry the accomodations at my house weren't better, but I have a small house ;_; And thanks for helping out with my party and stuff. You all are great. :D If you guys want to party sometime during summer, lemme know, OK? ( I mean in the central IL area! O_O ) I hope you guys had fun. :) Wah, I'm so glad fucking college is over. Time for a change at last. Right now, I'm volunteering again in the domestic violence shelter for 1-3 hours a day, which looks good on a resume and makes me feel like a useful human being again :D I never knew that volunteering could make you feel hyped. ( Although interacting with the residents of the shelter is really sobering. Makes me realize how much worse life can be. A big-ass dose of perspective every day. ) I don't know what else there is to say. I've been worse, I've been better - but I'm keeping busy. And I'm behind on blog-reading. Oh, I know what there is to say. XD I've been playing vagrant story like a maniac since I got back on Saturday night. I finally have a working PSX, so I've been grimly attacking my stack of unplayed RPGS. :D Mmmm, Sydney. Mmmm, Ashley. The character designer has a peculiar talent for visually appealing but gravitationally-improbable pants. If Sydney SNEEZES he's going to, er, fall out of his unlaced skintight leather pants. And Ashley's GOTTA get cold in those assless shorts. And leather, leather, leather. Makes a fangirl's heart happy. :D Now Playing: Domino - Tora Tora Tora ( and shadow para-para-paradise'ing XD ) |
