Saturday, September 8, 2001 at 11:16 p.m.: o/~ Release yourself...precious moments passing by, thirty frames a second... o/~ Today was a good day. n_n Well, yesterday was good too, but nevermind. Shannon, if you're reading this - where'd you go? ;_; I was going to invite you to hang out after JAC! But I couldn't find you after I went to DDR for a while. Email me, OK? Friday was kind of a hellish day for the most part. I couldn't sleep, so I ended up going to work at 7:30 with 3 hours under my belt. I was dozing in my seat for a while, and then I found out that I was supposed to get trained for two new projects. So I go hunt down the people who are supposed to train me, and one of them lets slip that oh, by the way, now I get to be in charge of this project. Yay? Not exactly. That makes, at latest count....SIX project I've got my fingers in at this particular moment. It's a little much; I'd rather be completely devoted to one or two projects instead of doing bits and pieces for six. But it's not really my decision. Then I skip lunch to go to campus to take passport photos to include in my applications. THEN I return to find out that I still am 'on-call' this weekend, meaning I have to come in on Sunday. T_T The thing is, we're indexing this book. Or we're supposed to. Problem is, we haven't FINISHED EDITING the book, so we don't have a FINAL PAGE COUNT. So how can we make the INDEX? Anyways, this was my boss's idea, and you don't complain about the boss's ideas, even if they're stupid. So finally I get to my last meeting of the day. I'm the coordinator of this project. I have to read the sample chapter we've been set, decide on the level of edit I'm going to use, and then I have to call the client long-distance to 'chat'. Then I have to get my editing team together and figure out how we're going to do this, and then I have to start reading articles to update the chapter we have. And I'm paid NINE FUCKING DOLLARS AN HOUR. It's slave wages for the amount of work I do sometimes. >_< Anyways, the day just kept going ON and ON and ON. I finally pulled myself away at 6 pm, and met Krisit on my doorstep as soon as she'd arrived. ( I'd known she was coming, and was afraid I'd made her wait. ) We went shopping, fooding, and then bought booze, and we came back to her place and watched some stuff while I sl0red Tenjou Tenge to her. ( Note: the mangaka calls it TenTen too - well, he calls it Ten^2. ^^ ) I have successfully sl0red krisit on it - and that was a half-assed, very tired sl0ring too! XD Once we were at least a little relaxed - two bottles apiece under our belts - we decided that what we REALLY NEEDED TO DO was, uh, practice our editorial skills. ( I was about to type more, but then I realized that when we send it off, I'll be glad that I was this vague. ) You'll see what I mean. Maybe. Anyways, we were silly for a while - not because we were drunk, because we'd drunk so little - but because it was nice to unwind. Then around 4 am we decided to go back to Krisit's car and get her sleeping bag so we could get some sleep. A side note. Parking where I live SUCKS. Those who have visited me can testify to this. It's near a bunch of fraternities, and ever parking space is ALWAYS fucking taken. I rent my space, and I'm an evil possessive bitch about it. Usually I tell people to park about three miles away in a public lot, and we take my car back to my place. But if I had a shoulder-mounted missile launcher, I could take care of C-U's parking problems in about five minutes. Anyways, we picked up her sleeping bag, and then we just drove around back roads in the country for about half an hour, talking and enjoying the night. I like night driving at that hour; nobody's on the streets, it's cool and dark and peaceful, and it soothes me like little else. I don't have much chance to do it, though. Anyways, we came back and crashed. Kate called at 10:30 am, as per our previous agreement, and woke us up. We staggered to JAC at noon, and had lunch with Eleanor, Julie, Greg, Kate, and Chad. Then we went to JAC at 1, where I spent half of the time watching the actual shows, a third of it DDR'ing badly ( I'm so out of practice. I just did Kick the Can SSR and Dynamite Rave Another ), and another third of the time sitting outside talking to the people there. It was nice and friendly. Which brings me to another curious thing. It's very strange to be around people who break ever social rule in the book. By this, I mean such things as invading personal space, demanding favors from people you don't know, participating in private conversations...there are people that everyone avoids because everyone's an asshole. Then there are the people that everyone avoids for a REASON. Well, anyways. Then I came home, Krisit went home, I visited my parents, and now - I should sleep. Got an email from my boss telling me that I can come in at 1 pm instead of 7 am - LUCKY!! Sorry, Krisit, you could have stayed after all. I'm sick to death of driving around at this hour, because I live near four bars and as many fraternity houses and apaato buildings. Therefore every night I'm subjected to more drunken retards stumbling around in the middle of the road than I can tolerate. I'm a retard when I'm drunk. I know this. HOWEVER, I do not: Now I'm going to go to bed, and enjoy the divine retribution. XD Now Playing: Iggy & the Stooges - Search & Destroy Friday, September 7, 2001 at 12:52 a.m.: I really need a ghostwriter for my fucking blog. Well, lots HAS been happening, and I've WANTED to blog it, but, uh, I am a lazy bitch. :D And the orange-layout infestation rapidly spreads among the IL blog-gumi . Who will it strike next? Bah, with my new DSL, I have no idea how this loads. Oh well. I'm tired. Fuck it. n_n Now Playing: Smashing Pumpkins - Zero |
