How do you do, I see you've met my faithful handyman...

Well, at around 1:20 am my time, George W. Bush became the next president of the United States. I can't BELIEVE this. So I'm going to move on so I don't get all political and rant. Already did that. >_@

Been surfing JP fanart sites; surfersparadise kicks ass. You can even do a search for yaoi fanart! ^_^ I found some lovely FF7 and FF8 pages, and tanzy, for her part, found this fucked-up site of fanart by someone with a serious military kink. Pixellated out people boinking in various army, navy, whatever you want uniforms. And all the uke-chan looked disturbingly girly. Long eyelashes, lipsticked mouths, the works. Thank you, deshi, for bringing that to my attention. >_<

Ganbatte, juri-nyu! If you need to call me after you visit, you know my number. ^_^

Geez, krisit , you shoulda emailed me! I didn't check your blog until just now. ;;^^ Oh well. What'd you buy again? Sucks about Ishida-kun, and serves that Corvette right. Who's this Ken-guy? n_n

kya-chan - yes, JAC at UIUC is showing it. We're on ep, what, 12 now? or 11? I can't wait to see the end! *_* And yes, I WARNED you about the OP. It's cheese-tastic! XD but I like the image of Roger and Dorothy they use in the ED. Wish I could steal it from somewhere.

I'm really tired and I need to study some more. Night, minna. ^_^

Now playing: Ponderosa, by Tricky. Everyone needs to listen to the album 'Maxinquaye' at least once. Excellent studying music, for trip-hop. Very...dark and groovy.

Sakura-chan is always cute and wonderful!

Tomoyo-chan worries me. A lot. ^_^

Here are the results of my X character quiz thing, while we're at it...

# 1 Yatouji Satsuki - dragon of earth
# 2 Nataku - dragon of earth
# 3 Shirou Kamui - dragon of heaven
# 4 Sumeragi Subaru - dragon of heaven
# 5 Kuzuki Kakyou - dragon of earth
# 6 Sakurazuka Seishirou - dragon of earth
# 7 Shiyuu Kusanagi - dragon of earth
# 8 Kishuu Arashi - dragon of heaven
# 9 Monou Fuuma - dragon of earth
# 10 Aoki Seiichirou - dragon of heaven
# 11 Arisugawa Sorata - dragon of heaven
# 12 Kasumi Karen - dragon of heaven
# 13 Nekoi Yuzuriha - dragon of heaven
# 14 Kigai Yuuto - dragon of earth

How'd I get all the odd ones up high? XD Well, being CLAMP, they're all odd in their own special way.

Dammit, krisit, Ishida-kun broke down again? Sucks.

I'm cold, tired, and my parents aren't speaking to me again since I broke up their argument. Such is life.

Submitted my Yale app, though.

Bad weekend for quite a few of us! ;_; *passes out glomps and sparklies and cookies to those who need them*

Weird day so far. Send out my recommendations to Stanford and Yale...*crossing fingers* I had this incredibly fucked-up dream last night that I met my research advisor on the Quad and he bitched me out for not coming in to the lab as often as I should. Eeeek! Lingering guilt manifesting itself! Then my dreams went back to their regularly scheduled showing of 'Godzilla trashes downtown Urbana'. XD

kya-chan - YAY! Someone else has discovered the coolness that is Big O! ( you'll learn to fear the OP, though. @_@ ) There's just something about Dorothy's deadpan sarcasm that gets me every time. Plus the giant robots, Roger's eyebrows and fetish for the color black, and his faithful butler/ass-kicker, Norman. XD As juri-nyu mentioned, Dorothy's seiyuu is indeed the same one as Relena's. Here's an abbreviated seiyuu list:

Roger Smith, Negotiatior, age 25 - Miyamoto Mitsuru
    Angel, age 26 - Shinohara Emi ( yay! ^^ )
    R. Dorothy Waynewright/Weinwright/whatever, Android, age 18 - Yajima Akiko
Norman Berg, Butler, age 54 - Kiyokawa Motomu
Dan Daston, officer, age 47 - Genta Noriaki (? - from kanji, could be Tetsuaki )
Beck, age 22 - Ootsuka Yoshitada

Man, shift-JIS plus a name dictionary is your friend. *_*

Gotta study now. Gotta vote after my exam tomorrow, and them study for Wednesday's exam. Yay.

Now playing: Okui Masami - Only 1, No. 1

" I don't care. It's for someone with lousy taste."

Oh man! Today's ep of Big O was great, wasn't it, Juri-nyu? Norman on his motorcycle...Roger Smith being his usual clueless self...and Dorothy's just awesome, as usual. *_* " I'm used to it. ._. How do you make him love you?" I need to get this series on VCD from nerrie or someone so I can make a damn page! ._.# Today's episode, BTW, was entitled 'Daemonseed'. It could also be called ' Giant Mecha vs. Christmas Tree. The tree almost wins.'

Katherine - I didn't know the url for Sannasubi-sensei's page! *___* You made my day! S/he is my favorite demented DJ-ka. I agree with you - although Moody Dork-sama isn't my favorite character, that's Saitou -
Aoshi: Then explain this?
Puu: I can't. Except the little fact that you were threatening my life in a sullen sort of way with those two skewers of yours.
Aoshi: It's not a butt-bow.
Puu: Oh yes it is...*eep* uh, no it isn't! Help! Someone!
- but he's amusing as all hell in these yaoi doujinshi, you're right. I devour Sannasubi-sensei's doujinshi like popcorn - it's an expensive habit, but a fun one! XD Aoshi is always SD, abused, and fighting off whoever it is. I love his/her taste in characters - Saitou's usually involved, or Battousai. I have this great sequence of DJ which shows how Battousai...er...'met' ponytailed Aoshi back during the Bakumatsu, except he was in his cute Kenshin niko-niko state, so Aoshi was fooled into coming back to his house with him to dry off. ( Kenshin had startled him into falling off a bridge - SD pissed off adolescent Aoshi is funny as hell XD ) And once Kenshin has Aoshi in his house, he goes all dangerous and Battousai and genki-evil and molests poor uke Aoshi. XD And then, in the next DJ, it shows Saitou chasing after Aoshi as usual ( ' Why exactly do we have to meet at a private bathhouse to exchange information again?' ) and it ends up with Saitou and Kenshin sitting and soaking in the hot tub comparing notes on Aoshi while Aoshi sits across from them, fuming. XD ' HELLO? I'M STILL HERE, YOU KNOW! ' All my Aoshi doujinshi scans are in this directory. Enjoy! XD

I just had an interesting conversation with my mom.
PuuMom: Oh, I remember this song! ( re: 'Prince Charming.' ) I remember the video, too! Do you remember the video?
Puu: No, it was right around the time I was born, you know, like 1981. ^_^
PuuMom: He was dancing like this in the video...*demonstrates* I still remember how he moved! I like Adam Ant, he's cute! But David Bowie?! How can you think he's cute?
Puu: Quiet! David Bowie *_*
I'm still amused at my mom doing the dance in the middle of the kitchen. XD

Augh, my knees hurt from all this DDR'ing. Anyone who wants to dance 2nd or 3rd mix, drop by!

Michi and Deshi-chan have their own blogs now! Yay! XD

Juri, that SD-sketch you did of the #yaoshi-gumi is so cute - and demented! XD And yes, I need a blinking spoiler sign to light up over my head when I'm planning on torturing you. Like the end of Trigun, where Vash XXXXXXXXXXX Wolfwood XXXX's XXXXX........XXXXXX......with a CUCUMBER! How did they DO that? XXXXXXXXxxXX.... And wouldn't it be PAINFUL? ( Maybe if they were really careful....)

Okay, another weird interaction with my parents...
PuuMom: Priya! Come quick! Your dad wants you to hear this song!
Puu: Okay...? *runs to the other end of the house*
~o/ All that she wants, is another baby, she's gone tomorrow, boy... o/~
Puu: DAD!! TURN THAT OFF!
PuuDad: NO! XDDD
Puu: If you don't, I'll hook up my DDR pad and dance 'In the Navy' for you to punish you! You know, o/~ In the Navy... o/~
PuuDad: o/~ You bring your own lube... o/~
Puu: I'll pretend I didn't hear that. >_<
PuuDad: HO HO HO HO!!
Why are my parents so odd?

Deshi-chan - yikes, that sucks about getting locked out. At least Richard wasn't a dick about it, right? And between Chi and myself, we'll find some way to embarrass you in front of this Jared person. *kusukusu*
No, really, I know what you and Juri mean about being totally unable to talk to someone I have a crush on. It's one of those things where wild horses wouldn't drag it out of me unless they say something first. >_< Really annoying character trait, but what to do. ( Juri! Quit encouraging me to go after my TA! I just want to *stalk* him, woman! Not date him! XD )

Ka-chan - yeah, that's our FY page ;;^_^ We don't *hate* it or anything, but honestly, I've only seen FY TV once through completely, and have no inclination to watch it over again. The OVA's, however, are fun - the second series, I mean - and it has Ren-sama! *_* ( I'm an Ishida-kun fangirl as well as a drooling Koyasu fangirl. n_n ) And I love the Ishida vs. Kyouda omake. I need Ishida-kun to take care of my ass-kicking list too!
It would be nice if shounen series were shorter - I like HE and VoH and Orphen and RK before the last volume or few. Mostly because the artwork started getting so damn stylized and ugly. Watsuki-sensei! ;_; The pinnacle of RK artwork, IMHO, was like volumes 17-21. Straight downhill after that. Yuck. Evangelion is interesting but another thing I wouldn't really obsess over. ( Except episode 24 gets plus-points for Kaworu, natch. I-shi-da. XD ) I can't watch super-shoujo series like Marmalade Boy because yeesh, no plot other than romantic hijinks! Aiya! That's my main beef with the Card Captor Sakura anime - where's the damn plot to spice up the cuteness? No more cards-of-the-day! Please! ( Currently watched upto episode 42. I know the plot will pick up soon, but dammit, 42 episodes?! I prefer the manga. ) I can tolerate cuteness if there's at least a cool plot. And I DO like HYD because the heroine, although romantically wishy-washy like all shoujo heroines, she's TOUGH and she's not whiny and her confusion seems really more believable than a lot of the usual romantic hijinks in other shows. You have to admit, initially Doumyoji seems like a total ass. ^_^ But he's cool! *___*
And I believe the password to the HE translations is 'paopei'. Try it.

Hahahaha! Those uranai are funny as hell, Katherine! XD 'What appliance are you?!'

Niisan, I am so sorry to hear that. Especially for your grandfather, who has to go through this awful loss again. Once is bad enough, but twice? I'm truly sorry. How is your grandfather doing? Did you call him? *big hug*

Agh, reminds me of personal fucked up family dynamics that happened recently. Thursday night my mom called her mother in India, and they had this big long talk. Apparently my grandmother and her daughter-in-law, whom she lives with, have been fighting like hell recently and now finally my grandmother is moving out after my aunt told her that she was tired of her sitting in her house and eating her food and she should cut off all ties with my uncle and my cousin and just *leave*. My ayya was their free 24-hour nursemaid when my cousin was born a few years ago, and most of the time she just stays in her room and watches TV to avoid causing trouble. But mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law have a special talent for hating each other, I guess? So my ayya was going to pack up and move to a house in a small village 50 miles away from Madras. She's almost 90, and can barely walk; she need someone to cook for her and check up on her. After my mom hung up, she was almost in tears because she was so frustrated that she was so many thousands of miles away and unable to really *help* in this situation - mediate, make sure her mother was properly taken care of, whatever was necessary. So I told her to call her rich friend in India. Luckily her friend - who is an awesome lady, and has known my mother all her life - said she'd arrange for my ayya to rent a house near her own, and she'd send her gardener to wash the clothes and everything, and my ayya would live with a young girl and her grandfather so she'd have both company during the day and someone to cook for her and take care of her in the mornings and evenings. It's kind of like arranging a live-in nurse, but the rules are so different in India. It's hard to explain. Anyways, it looks like that's settled semi-satisfactorily, but what a fucking mess. My uncle can't really do a damn thing, because if he protested his wife would easily threaten to leave him and take the child, and it's his only kid. Weirdly enough, my aunt has never been anything but kind and loving to me, so it's so weird to hear that she's being like this. Argh. Asking my ayya to sign a piece of paper cutting off all ties to her son and grandson. What the hell.

Okay, that's enough. I'll blog more later, when I'm less serious. @_@

Aoshi in Wonderland

Don't blame me because it's demented!

As a special treat to all of you (un)fortunates who read my blog, here's some scans from a hilariously demented DJ I have, 'Aoshi in Wonderland.' Enjoy. *kusukusu* I love the casting choices; FYI, the White Rabbit was Soujirou running around being worried that he'd be late to Shishio-san and Himura-san's fight. ;;^^

You all should seriously come to #fy, or, more likely, #yaoshi ( oh, that title's my fault. I have a disturbing number of yaoi Aoshi doujinshi...poor guy, he's so abused! XD ) where you'll find us. I'm usually PuuGENKI ( or some derivation thereof ), krisit is usually Anju or Kouji, juri-nyu is Oruha/OruWORK/Ikuhara/etc, uh... niisan is Yuuhi or MazeOTOKO or something like that. And Emi-nyu is Emi-chan, of course. So join us! We're on Efnet, as mentioned before, and some servers that actually work...eh....try irc.prison.net or irc.east.gblx.net or irc.emory.edu or irc.stanford.edu. Those usually work. I expect to see ALL of you there! That means YOU! ^_^ And nekosagi - I remember you from #fy! I do! Damn, that was some time ago, wasn't it?

It IS kinda fun how all these blogs are becoming very BBS'y. *kusukusu*

Ka-chan, I also took your manga survey. *laugh* Dammit, people! Take it! It's amusing! ^_^

krisit - ganbatte with your visit to the counsellor!

Ahhh, what the hell was I going to say...oh yes. Last night I noted that George W. Bush bore a disturbing resemblance to a grown-up Alfred E. Neuman. The implications of that are rather disturbing, don't you think?

I should work on my Petshop of Horrors manga page. I really should. But I'm lazy. ^_^ Yeah, we all ought to get together sometime up in Chicago! It'd be fun! krisit, you want to go up to Chicago next weekend instead of Charleston? Or what? We don't *have* to DDR....( BTW, I've been DDR'ing for a week, and last night I got a B on a 5-foot song! *_* ....*crickets chirp* OK, I just thought I'd mention that. ;;^o^ )

As for liking FY or not...sheesh, krisit and I have one of the oldest and most mind-bogglingly comprehensive FY pages, and I think we both now actively dislike the series. ;;^_^ Oversaturation, maybe? Or maybe I'm just not as attracted to the same kind of story at 19 as I was at 15. ^_^ Now I'm firmly in the 'if it's cute, it makes me cringe' camp...although CCS can lull me into a dazed stupor, kind of like how a lavalamp can. A lot of my favorite series are either shounen, or shoujo that's less heavy on the romance part, y'know? I don't know why.

Okay, that's all I can think of for now...

Another precious childhood memory forever warped beyond recognition...

My, I stayed up late last night with niisan trying to squick each other out. I'm not sure who won; he did, probably, by picking out choice passages from his father's page. It still boggles my mind that THAT'S your DAD. Well, as I said, you're weird, but damn, you're interesting. And you're such a blog ho! How the hell did you post that much in one day?! You're worse than I am! ^_^

Damn, somehow I just erased several paragraph's worth of stuff I'd typed! Damn, what'd I say?

Re: JP-literate-type-people. I'm not one of those. I know just enough to read a manga, or understand most of a raw show. No more, no less. Hand me a newspaper, and I'd swirly-eye. ^^ I COULD take a formal JP class, but I strangely don't want to: I'm taking Latin next semester.

Emi-nyu , that new layout is lovely. Yes, I *did* laugh hysterically when, as predicted, the old layout crashed Netscape. " Wow! It DID crash my browser! XD " And you just want to get paid to go to cons. Admit it. ^.-

krisit , Celexa is available from your friendly neighborhood shrink. If you're really feeling that cranky and wretched, as I was, it might not be a bad idea to see a psychiatrist; irritability *is* a sign of depression. Ganbatte, ne?

Yeah, and we DO know where Evan is; far away now. @_@ *twitch, shudder*

Quick update: Leslie is engaged to be engaged, or some such weird shit. Lynn is...Lynn. Ursie is still at Stanford or Berkeley or wherever last I heard, and Hadas is on the local rugby team. I think she's still dating Alex, even though Alex' parents were really homophobic last I heard. That ought to be....interesting...if they ever find out their daughter's a lesbian.

Enough in-jokes. Anyways, in the local student newspaper today, there was an article about how Saturday morning cartoons suck nowadays. They watched Digimon, Pokemon, Cardcaptors, and some American cartoons I don't remember. They thought they all sucked, but they made the distinction that they were so badly dubbed that any semblance of a plot was lost long ago. They thought that the show might have been okay before the dub job. Interesting; most of the time the immediate conclusion is "these Japanese shows with cow-eyed kids" suck in and of themselves.

I need to DDR more. It's fun.

Well, election's coming up, and I'm registered. What about all you? I'm the only person in my family who can vote; my parents AND older sister weren't born in the US and they've retained their original citizenships. ( Two Danish, one Indian. ) So I guess I'm the only voter around here. Most of us are in IL, a swing state, IIRC - what do you think about the upcoming election? Or do you? I'm just bringing it up because it's next Tuesday. ^_^

Cat - hang in there! Come down for JAC more often, and we'll hang out. *nadenadepatpatpat*

It's still hella disturbing that in the first ep of Haunted Junction, when the three girls fall out of the room after meeting Akamanto-Kamen-kun and they're rolling on the floor...if you look at them instead of Akamanto-Kamen-kun while he's talking to the Seitokaichou....one girl has her hand between her legs and is rubbing vigorously, starry-eyed and blushing. ;;^_^ I would cap it if I could; it made krisit and I facefault.

One last word:

II ONNA DA ZE!

Sorry, I just had to say that. XD

Now Playing: Extrication ( P.G. Perfumix Mix ) - the Lost Universe soundtrack has these most *excellent* techno/dance remixes of the OP and ED.

You're Dressed to Kill, and Guess Who's Dying...

Ah man...I'm still up because I have a paper on the Inferno I have to write tomorrow ( today ) at noon. I got the topic at 10 pm Tuesday night, while I was studying for Wednesday's anatomy quiz, so right now I'm staring at the passages and racking my brains for an outline. Not. Fun.

Anyways, enough about that. Man, seems like a lot of people are breaking up around now; it's a bad time of the year romantically. And krisit , I SO know what you mean about being too fucked up and too busy to date right now. I'm exactly in that situation right now. Hell, I just had to start a medication because I was such a fucking mess. And it makes me really hyper. It's like I'm perma-buzzed right now. Not a bad feeling, just...odd! Mmm, well, to tell the truth, I needed this medication because I was clinically depressed. Celexa's like Prozac, and it speeds me down, because emotionally it was like I was bogged down in mud.

Like that horse in the Neverending Story. Dammit, everyone remembers that, right? I loved that! Wonder where that kid who played Atreyu is now. I have the book in the original German; it's lovely. Half's written in green ink, and half in red, and it has 26 chapters, each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet. And the first letter is a lovely large drawing, too! It's fun reading. Get a translation, they're good - for the record, the kindliche kaiserin's ( what'd they call her in the movie, the Child-like Empress? ) name is 'Mondenkind' - Moon Child.

UPDATE!! hahahahahaha! I found out who played Atreyu / Atreju. It was someone called Noah Hathaway. Check out this site. Now! And be prepared to laugh yourself silly! ( I was deeply, deeply amused by what I found out on that page. Damn! All the cute ones! XD Cute little boy at 13-14....gay icon at the age of 29! Damn! XD )

Where was I? Ah yes!

Karen-san , I have always thought that Squall's ass was deliberately being drawn attention to. Or was it his crotch? I mean, his belts cross over both his front AND his back...so it's like 'X marks the spot' with his clothing design. Pick a side, front or back. H_H And Laguna is a hottie...but I've always wondered about that Kiros guy...*kusukusu*

One of my favorite ways to get Squall to Limit Break in that game was to have Quistis whip him repeatedly. XD I always imagined it like this:

Quistis: HO HO HO HO! *Tira-cackle* *whip cracks*
Squall: OW! Dammit, Quistissssss...that hurrrts! *whine*
*Irvine falls down laughing somewhere in the background*

Tay-chan and I also nicknamed Irvine the 'Ass-Master', because he looks like the kind of guy who would pinch people's asses just to make them jump and look at him nervously. *laugh* But then again, we're a sick and twisted bunch, the IL-gumi! ( or the ex-IL-gumi, in Tay's case @_@ )

Hmm...oh, I changed the genkiland index layout! ( end shameless self-promotion )

I think that's all I wanted to say now...hopefully.

No, I am not A bitch, I am THE bitch.

Worst movie I've ever seen, juri-nyu? Er...I would have said 'The Lost World' or 'The Postman', but nevermind. Worst movie otherwise? Uh...'Shaolin Kung-fu Mystagogue', IIRC. Get it, and recoil in horror at the really awful kung-fu action! Then, if you haven't you must watch 'The Heroic Trio', because that just kicks ass.

Chou chou subarashii...I ran into the mother of a friend today at Custard Cup. Now, this particular friend and I were really quite close in high school, and we've kinda seriously drifted apart during college because a) I'm always busy, and b) her idea of fun involves getting a bunch of ten people together, going to a bar, shooting pool, and getting puking drunk. No, neither of us is remotely near 21, so I don't see the thrill of risking arrest if you could just get someone to buy the booze and take it to someone's apartment and get drunk there without having to drive home or dodge the cops. Bleah. I don't particularly like her new friends either; they're all the fashionably bitchy type. So, anyways, a week or two ago it was her birthday. She calls me up for the first time in about six months and invites me to come. On further questioning, it turned out I'd basically just be her designated driver. We'd go to a bar, get puking drunk with her snide friends, etc etc. So I looked at my pile of applications, and it's a sign of how little I wanted to go that my application essays won out over going to a bar on a Friday night. Anyways. So I backed out, and today I ran into her mom, and I asked how my friend was. She was fine, and all, but 'really disappointed that I hadn't shown up, and depressed that her 20th birthday hadn't been all that special, but okay.'

I was wondering if there was a proper way to say, ' Gee, Ma'am, I'm sorry I didn't go, but I would have been bored as hell driving your totally sloshed daughter from bar to bar and putting up with her asshole friends.' I mean, really, I will do a lot of things just to be social, but with this setup there would be NO fun for me whatsoever. I'd have just been sober and irritated.

So I smiled and said I'd see her this weekend if I could.

*sigh* What else could I have done?

It's kind of sad how far you can grow away from friends who used to be very very close to you. It's happened to me a lot; I'm so rarely in touch with the friends I went to high school with, even though they're in the same town. But, at the same time, I guess I view the close friends I've kept and made since then to be the ones who know me best. I sure as hell aren't the same as I was when I graduated from high school. ( I was 16 - yeesh! ) So I guess the people who can put up with me now will probably put up with me forever. I don't think it's possible for me to get any worse - or so I hope. ^.-

What do you all think? How have your friendships changed?

Oh, and of course Matt and I were fantasizing about you in leather, Juri! What else do you think we do with our free time? ;^_^

Oh, something else! I got this great email about my Bebop page. It was written in Japanese, but it was from an Italian. *laugh* Interesting, huh?

katherine: heh heh...Ouija boards! I had a fun experience with those at a birthday party when I was like 12 or 13. I had a bunch of girls over for a sleepover, and we made this makeshift Ouija board - we just cut out pieces of paper with the letters or numbers on them, put them on a table, turned over a cup and put our hands on it, turned off the lights, and waited until the cup stopped being moved ^.- and then flicked on a flashlight and read the letter it had stopped over. Weirdly enough, at one point it spelled out 'S-U-B-T-E-R-R-A' and at that point one girl freaked out and wouldn't play anymore, thinking a real ghost was contacting us. I have no idea how in the hell we spelled that out; we were in pitch darkness, and I doubt more than two of us could have spelled 'subterranean' at the time. ;;^_^

angry cow ( you must let me know what to call you; I feel so odd calling someone that XD ) and nekosagi - I feel your pain re: the KnO ML. I was on the FY ML from the very beginning, and it was nice and small and quiet for about six months and then holy SHIT the series just exploded, and we got flooded with people. More people = good, but most of these people have no clue about netiquette and all that, and get all huffy if you tell them not to spam, or to stay OT, and so on. On another ML I'm on, a new listadmin told people to stay the hell on topic, because there were over 250 people on the list, and they don't CARE if a co-worker looks like so-and-so, or if you're XXX no Miko or are 'Keeper' of XXX's underwear, and the entire list blew up and called her a nazi and told her she was treating them like kindergarteners. ( Well, they were ACTING like ones, so... :P ) I don't get how people who have supposedly been on the internet for some time can act like such idiotic newbies on ML's. It simply amazes me. Me, I don't post unless I have an answer, LONG, on-topic comment, or something similar to contribute. Yeesh. And if people complain about mail volume, they'll say, ' well, you should have taken that into consideration before joining the list! don't restrict us!' instead of agreeing to shut up about OT stuff.

I'm a bitter ML admin. Who wishes there was a way to reach through the screen and physically bitchslap the people who need it. ^__^

Winamp: Er...Neuroactive: Parallel. Dammit, I simply love this band, and I discovered it by accident. If you're a fan of moody dance music, kinda like dance-y Depeche Mode, go to Listen.com and do a search on 'neuroactive'. I like 'Parallel', but their other songs are good too. n_n

If you have any problems, just hit ctrl-alt-del twice, okay?

Ah, all you poor people in computer labs who have all those completely computer-illiterate people to help! I feel your pain. I used to do that in HS before I realized I simply didn't have the patience to do it for more than an hour or two at a time and that if I snapped and killed a patron, it would look bad on my college record. So I don't anymore.

Went to bed at 3 am, woke up at 9 am. Damn people who call at 9 am; no one who actually WORKS is going to be HOME at this hour! What's the idea? ( Ah, ignore me; I'm always cranky when I get woken up abruptly. ^_^ ) Krisit ; it looks like it's a good thing we DIDN'T get together last night, considering how dead we both seem to be this morning.

When it comes to parents and computers, I have the typical computer-clueless parents. My mom can type reasonably well and check her email at work, but anything more than that is beyond her. Similar with my dad, except he can't even type well. He's still at the hunt-and-peck stage. ^_^ I usually type stuff for them because I've become pretty fast. My sister is semi-computer-literate, and my brother-in-law is a total geek. I don't know HOW he takes time off from his rotations in the hospital to play that much network Quake with his brother. Bad Karl!

Not that I'm any computer goddess myself; I've never even bothered to learn how to make frames, although I understand it's really easy. I bet it is; I've just never needed to use it when tables will work just as well.

Oooh, which reminds me of something I saw yesterday which really annoys me about anime collective webpages nowadays: pages that are gorgeous and complicated but a complete pain in the ass to load/navigate/read. Yeesh.

A bunch of these webpages are so lovely, and I could never make graphics like that or write the HTML/Javascript necessary. But that doesn't mean they aren't evil. They don't make the usual newbie webpage errors ( usually ), like imbedded MIDIs, or illegible yellow-on-pale-green color combos ( well, I've been guilty of illegible pages before; mostly because I keep my monitor bright and I assume that people can read purple-on-black or blue-grey-on-black, which isn't always true ^_^ ) No. They commit *complicated* errors.

For example.

Javascript scrolling thingies. Now, it's awesome to have that teeny frame, and you just wave your mouse over the appropriate button and it scrolls! How. Ev. Er. That's only cool if people can FIND your scrolling buttons. I've seen lovely pages where the scrolling buttons are so integrated into the rest of the design, and there's no other indication that the little frame scrolls, so I've been reduced to staring at the frame in frustration and waving my mouse around to try to find the damn buttons. Usually, they're some slightly-differently-colored patch of the design, or a character's face, or something, but that's not intuitive! Have pity on us, web designers!
  • Frames. Frames, used wisely, and in moderation, can be cool. Frames used to excess are AKU. Lotsa scrolling = bad. One of the most evil things I saw the other day was a page where the character profiles loaded in a tiny little frame when you clicked on the character. Normally, not bad. But this frame only showed five lines of text at a time. My monitor is set at, what, 1200 x something? Having to scroll that much for a page when my settings are that good is bad. It's also annoying as hell; it's like being spoonfed an entire watermelon. Just cut us a damn slice! I would have preferred a larger frame where I can read more of the page at a time. ;;^_^ Too much scrolling = bad!
  • Overly fancy effects. Blinka-blinka flashy-flashy? Ow!
Now, I'll be the first to admit I can't do any of these cool things, but in moderation, dammit! It's the Mr. T effect, I guess. A little gold is pretty. A lot of gold, and you end up looking like Mr. T. Or something like that.

My analogies get more bizarre the more I type. I'll stop now. ^_^

Someone's probably already talked about all this in their blog; gomen! I just noticed some glaring offenders yesterday while surfing.

And now...a non-rant...or IS IT?

Actually, it IS a rant. I tried to call Vanderbilt University to schedule an interview, to be told that they don't schedule interviews on Wednesdays. Not that I can't have an interview on a Wednesday; they just won't help me *schedule* one today. Try tomorrow. *rolls eyes*

Ordered my Trigun manga and Alichino. Yowch. Gonna be expensive overseas postage. Why is it that the postage always doubles the price of what you order? ;_; And I got my Wolfwood figure! Yay! *_* Now, Juri, just tell me where to get the R. Dorothy figure, and I'll be all set. I have all sorts of weird figures on my desk, most of them from krisit; Sailors Uranus and Pluto; Dr. Evil, Irvine, Quistis...and now Wolfwood when he gets here.

OK, I should cram for my anatomy quiz now. It's at 1 @_@ And I've babbled for far to long already. Now Matt and I are trying to figure out what you'll do with all that leather from your Ikuhara costume, Juri! We figure you can just go grocery shopping in it, just like the real Ikuhara. XD

And, in conclusion, I'd just like to say:

HAIL ILPARAZZO-SAMA!!!!!

On Winamp: Puss n' Boots, by Adam Ant ( there MUST be some of you out there who like Adam Ant, arne't they? )
