Nyarrr. Quick blog because I'm really tired. Interview went fine, I think. More about that later. There's an escaped mental patient stalking my workplace and we've started locking all the doors. More about that later. Um. Tired. Got the Rasen no Kakera artbook finally, and when I get the boogiepop dual #2, I'll give you the ISBN, Kristina. And Joy, I love Shishio-sama too. Mmm, crispy love. XD~ Are you feeling better? Um....I learned that I'm supposed to embrace, not fondle, the ghei. You know there'll be more about that later. Ordered some videogames and DJ. Must...collapse...got another interview scheduled. Great, one every week for the next month. X_x I feel like I've had one too many Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters.
Krisit, some book recommendations: - The Whole Shebang, by Timothy Harris (cosmology 'without all that nasty math stuff' :D )
- The Revenants, by, um...Sherri S. Tepper. Tripped-out fantasy with gender-changing ambiguities, prophecies, arrogant mythical male beasts, and, um, a religion that Seals off differences and attempts to neuter all its priests. Really interesting.
- Read some Tanith Lee. She's fucked up.
- Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer. For real trip-effect, read the book, and then listen to the song of the same name by the Cure, or vice versa. He lifted lines straight out of the children's book :D
- Der Struwwelpeter - known in English as "Shock-Headed Peter." It's good German practice! Yes! XD
- Read some Rushdie too.
- Stuff by Astrid Lindgren - read "Ronia the Robber's Daughter."
- Or stuff by Tove Jansson. Her books are so....strange, they're funny, but at the same time can really inspire this odd feeling of melancholy. Try reading 'Comet in Moominland' or 'Moominland Midwinter' or 'Moominpapa at Sea.'
- Read stuff by Patricia Highsmith. I swear to god you'd like her. And she has Ripley listen to Lou Reed's Transformer. You can't go wrong with that.
- If you want tripped-out versions of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, go for William Buck's retellings.
- Friederich Durrenmatt.
Now Playing: The Clash - Train in Vain

I just realized that a french fry and a straw are entwined rather disturbingly on the side of this McDonald's cup. @_@ *sigh* Well, got stuff done yesterday. I was having such a bad stomachache that I had to stop and double over several times before I pep-talked myself into going to work. Got there at 6:30 am, and had thrown up twice by 8 am when everyone else arrived and I drove to campus to get my work done. Called Wisconsin, set up my interview on 11/30. Went over to the Career Center, asked them to overnight my letters to Ohio. " Oh, well, we have a 24-hour processing time; they won't go out until tomorrow so they won't reach there until Wednesday." " ....*third eye opens* I have an interview on Wednesday. I didn't have any warning, and my letters MUST be there by Wednesday." " Oh....well....uh...o.o;;;; Um, look, how about I bump you to the head of the line for today? We get 50-75 requests a day, but I'll do you a favor and try to get this out today so it'll get there tomorrow." " Thank you. *third eye still open*" " OK! That'll be $16!" " ....*opens wallet* " So hopefully she'll get the letters there on time. Then I went back to my dad's office, called Ohio, and let them know a) they gave me no warning, so that's why I was RSVP'ing so late ( turns out this has happened with other students o.o;) and b) I was overnighting my letters of recommendation, and they should be there tomorrow. So hopefully that will work out. >_@ Went back to work, forced myself to finish my nine-hour shift. Nnngh. Then I went home at 4 pm and found a note from the post office in my box. But I had stuff to do before 5, so first I ran around, got a passport photo taken ( Ohio wanted one ) and went to pay my rent (since I'd be gone October 30 and 31.) While handing in my check, I realized that the LAST time I'd paid my rent, I'd asked them to fix the damn things that I listed as broken on my move-in report. You know, all the broken electrical outlet coverings? T_T# So I opened my third eye at the maintenence people there, and they yawned and handed me a form to fill out, the same way they had the last time. Nyar.
Then I went to the post office, and the jerk-ass wouldn't let me have the package until tomorrow. The other guy usually bends the rules and if I come in at 5:15 ( the post office closes at 5:30 and all the trucks are back by 5:15 ) he'll find the package and give it to me instead of making me wait until the official time tomorrow. I'm not sure what it is; it's either the Rasen no Kakera artbook that I've been waiting for for a while or my manga (boogiepop dual #2 and E'S). Nyarrr. Oh: if you've emailed me, I've read it; just give me until after my interview on Wednesday. I promise I'll answer. ^^ Now, let's see. Here are some anime music videos for your amusement: - "Oh Nick (Please Not So Quick)" by E-Rotic, set to Akazukin Chacha. Yes, you read that right. It's teeerribly wrooong. XD~ But kinda cute.
- "Afro-nova" set to footage from Perfect Blue. This works amazingly well. I really like this.
- Reverse Madness - this is the fight club opening theme by the Dust Brothers, set to footage from the X movie. Run in reverse. It's actually reaaalllly cool.
- "Hit Me" by Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa, set to footage from Utena. My reactions while watching this see-sawed from " Oh my god, that's so Wrong!" to "Wow, that's so...right. ;;^_^ "
- Night of Fire, set to footage from PE2, Tekken 3, Biohazard, um...and a bunch of other games.
Man, I want to make music videos. To me, a good music video just isn't running clips of a show that fits the music - you gotta edit it, take into account the beat and rhythm of the music, maybe synch up the mouth movements...the best ones do all that and create something that actually sticks in your head in association with the song. I swear, every time I hear the song "Father of Mine" by Everclear, I think of this one Evangelion music video that I saw at ACen. @_@ Or "The perfect drug" to Perfect Blue. Nyar. So check them out! :D Um...what else...ah yes, fun with referrals. I swear, I get some seriously scary shit. I AM 38% GOTH.
Goth ny night, normal by day. Deep in my
heart I know I am evil, but not on the
company's time. I do need to eat.
OK, I'm gonna go back to bed. Oyaachumi. Now Playing: David Bowie - Diamond Dogs ( this ain't rock 'n roll...this is GENOCIDE! ) and George Acosta - Emotions
